SIXTH ANGUILLA GUIDES & BROWNIES AWARDED |
Members of the Sixth Anguilla Girl Guide Company at Island Harbour have received various awards as they continue to forge ahead to make their organisation one of the most active and committed youth groups on the island.
The three sets of awards were for various levels of membership, dedicated service, performance, achievement, fund-raising and other activities. The Most Outstanding Brownie for the Year was Carliyah Adams; the Most Outstanding Guider was Brittany Webster and the Most Outstanding Ranger was Vanessa Fleming.
The awards were announced by Guide Leader Nashara Webster and presented by Guide Leaders Jacinta Crawford and Mavis John.
Following the presentations, Guide Commissioner, Dr. O. M. Linda Banks, commended the Leaders, Guides, Ranger Guides and Brownies of the Sixth Anguilla Company for their commitment to the organisation. “I must say that the leaders of the Guide company in this part of the island have really worked well with our girls to have them enjoy guiding as it should be and to have them aspire to be shining stars,” she said. “I applaud all of you for your work and commitment.”
Dr. Banks especially thanked Nashara Webster for her dedicated leadership and hard work. She congratulated her for being the recipient of a Government of Anguilla scholarship and one from Trent University to enable her to study in Canada. She said Miss Webster was a fine example to other young people in the Girl Guide Movement and all others in Anguilla on a whole.
